Flintshire 10k 2010

This morning I ran in the Flintshire 10k here in Mold, my first run in this race for several years. This is great little race near home . Starting at the bottom of Nercwys road then left along Wrexham road to Mold Cross UPHILL New Street and Ruthin Road left along upper Bryn Coch Lane through and downhill through the industrial estate Nercwys road and around for a second lap to finish in th sports centre. It's great to run a race in my home town- I'd been to Mold Methodist church earlier in the morning for our Harvest Service. It was great to have the support from my pals at church as I ran past on the first lap. Thankyou. The race started in rain - just like my last race 7 days ago in Belin- no sports bibs to keep us dry this week. So after taking warm clothes to the sports centre lockers- I started the race in vest shorts & a bin bag on top. At the start I said goodbye to GD &RHD and saw a few other Buckley Runners. Along the first flat road along Wrexham Road towards the cross, I saw chatted with & passed Sue & Niic. Then left up Wrexham road and a few hundred yards before the turn Derek caught up with me - his annual test of whether he's still alive - he said, a few years ago Derek went past me on the second lap. Not this time my friend , I've put the training in, with last weeks little jog. So I concentrated on pace & effort. I kept a pace into the second lap- 3 young chaps 17yr olds were ahead of me -friends of Andrew accros road - 1 even ran accross the road to him . And on both laps good to see support and hear support from R & her Grandpa. 2nd lap was hard , 2 chaps went by me on th downhill and I went by 2others.
I finished in 47min 43 - well pleasing as my last 2 10ks Farndon 2010. Musselburgh2009 were47 min something and this run today was far more hilly. Splits to follow when I plug in th garmin.
